I don't know if you are allowed to climb the spire anymore.

Of the Duomo, which began construction in 1386, Mark Twain, in his novel Innocents Abroad, wrote:

What a wonder it is! So grand, so solemn, so vast! And yet so delicate , so airy, so graceful! A very world of solid weight, and yet it seems ...a delusion of frostwork that might vanish with a breath!...

Very nice, I have something like this in sepia, an old album; Il Duomo is truly impressive, but.. it's a whole new atmosphere in Milan these days.
